TWELVE
First Album (Silber Records)
Reviewed by Holly Day
This is so disparate I had to check the album to make sure it wasn't
actually a compilation album. One minute, you've got these long, drawn-out
minimalist tonal pieces that after a while sound too much like someone
screwing around with a radio dial for me, and the next, you've got a
near-acoustic slow pop song about love, and then another, a series of
computer blips put to synth music. It's all good music on its own -- there's
quite a lot of stuff here that's really beautiful, in fact -- and there's
nothing here I don't like, but there's just too jarring a contrast between
these pieces to flow like a planned album.
