Do you like catchy songs? Do you like pop music with some rawness and rough edges left intact? Then you will love the Malinks. On their third self-released CD, the Malinks present 12 songs that shimmer and shine with uber-powerpop panache. "Clean Living" has hooks to die for, especially on the chorus. "Hey 21" is slower and has a great organ in it, while "Quiet As It's Kept" has some nice piano. For some reason, the Malinks' sound reminds me somewhat of the Pixies in that they have these really catchy tunes but are plenty noisy at the same time. I hope that's a comparison that would make the Malinks happy.
