As evidently influential Sonic Youth has been over the last twenty years, it always puzzles me just how few artists emulate their crunchy brand of infused noise rock. Listening to Give People What They Want In Lethal Doses the answer to my puzzle might be made clear: noise rock when it coheres in mediocrity is noise. The guys from Challenger bring a harder edge, and play shorter punchier songs, but there is little exciting about this release other than the cover artwork which is quite interesting.
