RICKSHAW
Sonic Overload (Devil Doll Records)
Reviewed by Holly Day
If you've been lusting after those great days in the '80s when heavy metal
bands got by with three chords, repetitive bass lines, metronomic drums,
and Halford-esque vocals, then this is the band for you. If you don't miss
those days much, then you should definitely not pick up this record. Rickshaw is a definite throwback to '80s metal, from the way the no-frills,
guitar-heavy music is put together to the (unintentionally?) over-the-top
lyrics about beatin' the system and love and just rockin' out in general.
