Quite a fitting swan song. Joe Strummer sure struggled to find his niche after the Clash imploded, finally settling in with an all inclusive sound with the Mescaleros. The final album brings it all together, the gritty immediacy of his early punk days, the romantic political bent, the love of reggae, everything in one nifty audio capsule. As it turns out, his gift of song never left, it just got misplaced for a couple of decades. Goodbye Joe, it's been swell.
