SOMERSET MEADOWS
Sounds of Sunshine (self-released)
Reviewed by Holly Day
This disc gets pretty annoying pretty quick. I guess my big, main, and
becoming-redundant problem with this album is the recording quality is bad,
and flat, and miked weird, so that it sounds like the vocals were just
plopped on top of a pre-recorded track. In fact, it's the vocals I have the
greatest problem with, even more than the boring, metronomic percussion and
rhythm guitar - they sound like some guy just kind of singing along with a karaoke band, falling out of time just enough every once in a while that
he has to stretch the words out a little longer than necessary to let the
music catch up with wherever he happens to be in the song. It's just
annoying.
